Beans-Phaseolus Vulgaris

It is a member of the legume family. Some of the varieties are:
Dry Beans
Snap Beans
Shell Beans

Some are bush beans, dwarf beans, pole or climbing beans. Beans are grown in every continent except Antarctica. It is native to America.

Toxicity

A toxic compound called phytohaemagglutinin, a lectin is present in many bean varieties. Especially in kidney beans. To safely cook these beans it is recommended to cook beans for 10 minutes to 100 Degrees Celsius or 212 Fahrenheit.
Symptoms of Poisoning are:
Nausea Vomiting, and diarrhea. Usually, onset only takes a few hours. So cook your beans!

Fun Fact about beans

Bean leaves have been used to trap bed bugs in houses. The Microscopic hairs on the bean leaves entrap the insects. In ancient times beans were actually used for fortune-telling and favormancy.
